Debian Linux Network Support Engineer - £neg - Manchester
Senior Debian Linux Network Support Engineer with strong Debian and Cisco skills is required for my client`s data centre. Responsibilities will include web servers, email servers, dedicated servers, antivirus and spam filtering servers, as well as 3rd line support issues. Several years of commercial experience is required for this role.
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas: very strong Debian Linux skills -- in-depth knowledge of routing and switching and Debian bug tracking system; internet mail systems -- postfix+LDAP, Amavis, SpamAssassin, ClamAV, MS Exchange, SquirrelMail, Snort, etc; Web servers -- Apache configuration & support, MySQL, PhP; DNS Bind9, dynamic updates via DHCP; using Linux for LAN administration -- Samba+LDAP, DHCP, Squid, IMAP; Linux Firewalls and VPN -- X509, ISAKMPD, FreeS*WAN, IPsec, IPtables, IPchains; LAN`s -- Cisco switches; WAN`s - Cisco routers, Linux based routers, ADSL, Leased Line.
Liaising with 3rd party suppliers and client-facing skills and some management experience is essential. You will be capable of making high level design decisions, be a team player and have leadership skills. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Software Engineering, Information Technology or similar is required.
